Good morning, it’s Wednesday, I’m me-shaped and so I’ll read the news the squirrels have written down from yesterday. Starting with the school as always.

(Even More) American National Park Tours with Sam Eagle ventured to a place called the Dry Tortugas which is actually almost entirely water. All right. Beach! watched a movie about sharks in a wave pool. And Paintball! had balloons full of paint instead of guns full of paint and Thor won.

Nothing in the dorms, sorry Porg, so we’ll go right into how Thor celebrated his victory with a bear claw and coffee at the Perk while I chose to soothe my sorrows with a very sugary coffee and we chatted a bit.

Earlier in the day, Marc was in his office at the boarding house. Remy brought him beer from home. Remy’s home, not Marc’s. And they talked about Harley and Marc says everything that happened was due to him and nothing to do with her. Marc. It doesn’t matter how many times you say that or think it the other person will be wondering what they did wrong. I’m sorry Harley.

Remy also went to work at Needful Things though I’m still unsure if he actually works there or not. The shop was still mostly empty after the bonfire.

Nell was at her shop working on flowers for the party for Watts and Steven. I’m sure they will be lovely.

And at Pick Your Poison Pam was working on something and Watts stopped in and had tea and a conversation about Marc and Harley.

That seems to be everything from yesterday, I think. Anakin is a cat, again, I think, so the park may be safe this morning. May be. I imagine I’ll be here again next week.

Any rain in the forecast seemed to be holding off while the events in the park were happening, which was lucky! The last thing anyone wanted was to do this in the rain. Not because it would make the event harder but because people might not come out and watch.

It was Jaina starting things off again, bullhorn in hand not because she needed it but because she liked it.

She was standing in the middle of a large tape circle, where several differently colored bins were situated in evenly spaced spots at the edge. Above Jaina was a good number of soccer balls, hanging in the air, levitated by the Force. It wasn't her showing off but there was really no easy way to hang things from air, you know?

"No teams today, guys!" she announced through the bullhorn. "It's going to be simple: the balls will drop, and you have to collect as many as you can and put them in your bin until there are no balls left. You can't use powers and you can't take anything from someone else's bin. if a ball goes out of bounds, it's not in play anymore. It's every person for themselves for three rounds."

And she read out this week's names.

Remy's "CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS" sign was still in the window of Needful Things. And the inside of the store remained barren, shelves empty and the checkout counter standing useless in the middle of it.

And Harley was sitting on the floor, eating a cake she'd ordered in. So, whatever stage of the breakup that was, she was pretty firmly at it, one sugar overloaded scoop of a spoon at a time. The high of the bonfire had carried her for a few days, but when she'd crashed, she'd done so hard.

And now that that had evened out, at least a little... Yeah, cake it was. While she looked around her store, and heaved a big sigh that was far from her first of the day.

"Jeez, how'm I gonna fill ya back up with junk, huh?"

And did she even really want to?

She drowned that thought out by shoveling yet more cake in her mouth.

Now that Summer had an actual property for her new storefront on Ravnica (with everything pretty much set up from the last business to carry over extremely well into her business), she was itching to get back there and get started with making this latest dream a reality, but, with the timing, she was definitely thinking she could get in one last shift in at Caritas before her attention shifted entirely to other enterprises.

Well. It was all still jello, but...you know what she meant.

But you better believe that if this was her last shift for a while, that she was going to go out with an absolutely disgusting bang.

Octavia hadn't been at work in... three months? Guess time flew when you were busy being stuck in a whole different universe.

She was also just a little bit late to this particular shift. Guess time also flew when you were busy trying to coerce a city into making better, more substantial plans for a better, more livable future. She'd left the demonstration late, grabbed a quick shower at Lucifer's place, and then hopped a portal to Fandom. And now she was there, at the club, standing behind the bar.

Feeling weird.

Everything felt and seemed the same (hi, Tiny, for one) but she didn't feel the same. Not after - or during? - everything in Los Angeles.

But at least she still knew how to bartend, probably. As much as she ever had, anyway.

Nell had spent a good chunk of yesterday (and would be spending another good amount of time today) getting flowers ready for Steven and the Detective's birthday and wedding celebration. Lots of sunflowers and red roses with the occasional sprig of honeysuckle for devoted and everlasting love thrown in.

They were going to be relatively simple, but beautiful.

“Today,” Sam announced, “we shall be going to Florida, to the Keys! Which are not actual keys but are islands. Nothing will be locked or unlocked today!”

Ok Sam whatever.

“We shall be going to the Dry Tortugas National Park! Which are islands and therefore not terribly dry because they are surrounded by water. Over 90% of the park is water!”

Remy made his way to the shop . . . eventually. Where he found the place all but cleared out. There was, in fact, little left in the place other than a collection of cat food behind the sales desk.

Remy was reasonably certain that wasn't for Bruce.

He found a handy scrap of cardboard and a marker and hastily scrawled a "CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS" sign on it, which he hung in the window. Then he sat back and tried to imagine what Harley would choose to fill this place with.

"Still not big enough for Fifi," he mused aloud. "Pity."

Well. There sure was something going on with Harley. Her Harley, that beautiful cloud of chaos that kept slipping through the cracks of her life every time she thought she'd caught it--

But while Pam waited for that to shake out however it was going to shake out, she was... here, when she wasn't in Slaughter Swamp.

Still trying to make enough antidotes to protect a whole city. Still having to do this - go downstairs, pour herself a large glass of water, sit down on the sofa - every few hours to make up for the resulting blood loss.

"This was definitely easier when I still had nigh-omnipotent power over nature," she muttered, patting one of her bigger swamp milkweeds.

Class was back in the danger shop, with a movie projector set up again, however, this time, the screen was set up in front of a wavepool, and instead of beach chairs, there were floaties bobbing in the water.

"It's time for a fun beach movie!" Aphra declared.

Thor was in a celebratory mood for no particular reason that involved pelting Tony Stark with paint balloons, and thus felt like treating himself to a latte and a pastry. Perhaps two pastries. He was a big god, after all.

"Do you want anything while we are here?" he asked the inside of his cup before taking a sip.

Let me get back to you on that, Don said, and his spirit wandered over to inspect the pastry case. Thor wondered if he would feel it if he tried to go any further, and then he shrugged off such weighty metaphysical matters and dedicated his attention to his almond croissant.

Hey there, island, it's ya girl Arden Finch, bringing you all of yesterday's news a day late and a dollar short, but here we go anyway!

School was doing it's thing, with Teamwork stranding everyone on a deserted island for a day--via Danger Shop, it should be noted, since it's entirely possible that someone would do that for real. Actually, thinking about it, that's kind of a baller class? So you're welcome, whichever teacher wants to claim that. 2 Problem 2 Creative once again had the Dean as a cat. What is happening around the island right now? ~~It's like prime vacation time or something~~ How To Waste Time on the Internet explored the wonderful world of kittencams...literal kittens, to be clear. That is not a potential misunderstanding that I'm going to suggest making a class out of. And, lastly, Destiny & Free Will discussed the differences between omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence.

No Dorms and I feel like the porg is adjusting to that, but the Magpie Emporium is now home to the 'Anakin plushie' - that's a direct quote, for the record - that Vi won in class. Pizza Planet got an order of smoked mozzarella and that somehow led to Ray getting a whole carrot cake. Excuse me, I'm being informed it was two cakes, so the staff could share one. Awww. Professor James Stark brought chocolate chip cookies in for National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day at the Clinic, which was very nice. Whereas Turtle & Canary wasn't celebrating anything, at least not until Professor Scientia came in and surprised Professor Smith with the deed to a building and an offer to sublet his and Professor Vess' townhouse.

Damn, I wish I had someone randomly surprise me with proper--Wait! That was a joke, I do not actually want that! Gray! Do not suggest to Castor that I do, or tell anyone else to tell him, oh goddess.

There was the usual paintball setup waiting for the class, but there weren't any paintball guns. Instead, there were a few buckets of paint filled water balloons. Because who didn't enjoy a little ridiculousness when competing in class?

"So, today we'll be going with grenades," Tony said cheerfully. "Not real ones, but paint ones. And there will be buckets hidden out along the course to restock if you run out."

Which just meant people could go ham with them. Just what you all wanted, right?

"Let's get to it!"

Jon was in a calm, happy mood today. Which was probably explained by his phone when he held it up to show a kitten cam.

"There are all kinds of cameras you can watch twenty-four seven to see things," he said. "The San Diego Zoo has live viewings of some of their animals, there are cameras at many cities, and if you search for live cameras, you'll find everything from aquariums to..." he sighed, "ghost hunting."

He waved to them. "See what you can find, and let us know what it is."

He'd be watching the cats.

Ah, squirrels and the porg intern, it seems, who is very pleased to inform me that over in the Dorms Miss Bennet was laundering her clothing, and feeling rather overwhelmed by all the care labels. This is why I send most of mine out.

The only other note comes from Town, where Miss Skywalker was visited by Mr. Stark, who brought her coffee and discussed Saturday's bonfire with her.

When Summer came into the store that morning, she was genuinely surprised to find things as quiet and normal as they were. Surprised...and suspicious. What? No Coast Guard Day? White Wine Day? Not even a Single Working Women's Day celebration (rude!)? Of course, she had to ask Apu what was up, if everything was okay.

It....did not help.

"What do you mean," she asked, "you couldn't pull it together because you're at work right now and it's too difficult to write it? Isn't that the whole point? When you're at work? And write what? Like a post or whatever?"

This was what happened, Summer, when you played loose and fast with the meta of it all. But she was determined not to worry about it, and was mostly busy working on ordering extra jello supplies for herself while she was here.

Students had been called to the Danger Shop today, and it looked like a deserted island, because it was a deserted island.

"Welcome to what you think is your new home for the foreseeable future," Jag began. Did he know this sort of scenario way too well? Yes. Yes he did. "You all have been stranded on this island. There is at least no immediate hope of rescue. And you need to make this place survivable for everyone."

"You may have everything you need here," Jaina said. "And no one's powers are working. All you've brought with you is what you have on your person right now."

"Sunset is in an hour, which happens to coincide with the end of class," he continued. "You should build shelter, find a source of food and fresh water, and be able to make fire before it's dark or you're going to have a very bad night. Good luck."

Stark was himself this week and not a koala which meant he was at his clinic shift as usual and he'd brought cookies (it was apparently National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day) to go with the usual coffees for himself and the nurses.

Stabby could have a cookie as well, he supposed.

One of the nurses presented him with a small plush koala and Stark just sighed and shook his head. It was cute, at least.

"No eucalyptus, I hope," he said. "Just coffee and cookies."

The clinic was open, the crab was eating a cookie, and the alien was in.
